Not so sour cherry crumble!

Ever tried a cherry crumble? We are approaching the season for crumbles and we love mixing up the flavours! A cherry crumble using sour cherries with the sweetness of honey and an oaty crunch topping. This is delicious and warm from the oven with custard or ice cream. Fresh, frozen or tinned cherries may be used





  • 600g sour (morello) cherries, stones removed (you can used frozen)

  • 1-2 tbsp honey (or more depending on sweetness preferred)

  • 4 tablespoons plain flour

  • 200g plain flour

  • 80g organic porridge oats

  • 150g dark brown soft sugar

  • 225g butter

Serve with ice cream and a drizzle of honey!


Preheat the oven to 190 C / Gas 5.


In a large bowl, combine cherries, honey and 4 tablespoons flour. Pour into 22x33cm baking dish. In a medium bowl, combine remaining flour, oats and brown sugar. Rub in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over cherries.


Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until topping is golden brown.
